Hurricane Matthew: Lowe’s expects to close stores at noon Thursday

lowesBetter not wait too late to get home supplies. Lowe’s expects to close area stores at midday Thursday with the approach of Hurricane Matthew.

“As of now, stores in the Palm Beach area will likely close at noon tomorrow,” said spokeswoman Sarah Lively on Wednesday afternoon. “Please note we are closely monitoring the forecast and this could be subject to change depending on the storm’s track.”

Also watching closely were Publix and Winn Dixie stores, but there was no immediate word on their plans or those of Home Depot or Best Buy.

Among other merchants, The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens said it will close at 3 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed Thursday, determining on Friday when it might reopen. In West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Outlets Mall said it will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed Thursday.

The Fresh Market in Wellington told customers it is closing at noon Thursday.

Duffy’s Sports Grill told customers “to protect our employees” it expects to close many of its area restaurants Thursday. “We will reopen as soon as we can safely do so,” an email message from president Jason Emmett said.
