Airbag recalls: Commenters defend Honda and Acura

honda grillThe comments are rolling in over at The Palm Beach Post’s Facebook post on airbag recalls. If you drive a Honda, you need to read this: https://www.facebook.com/palmbeachpost/posts/10154205158081495

One Palm Beach County driver said he felt pressured to buy a new car when a dealer told him there was a waiting list for alternative transportation for drivers who were looking at possibly months before airbag replacement parts were in stock.

Commenters have largely stuck up for Honda and Acura — and said hey, they are trying and at least they’re offering replacements while many others are not:

“Some dealerships might drag their feet to give a rental because they are overwhelmed, but persistence from the customer will speed the process up.”

“Many dealerships have dozens of customers cars in their lots waiting on parts while providing them with a rental for months until new airbags come in. Yes it’s a huge inconvenience but they are trying. Dealerships will be absorbing majority of the cost with little help from Honda.”

“Acura set up me with a car before the recall letters went out. I was getting an oil change and they told me about the recall and offered to set me up in a rental. I’ve had the rental for over a month and they said it will likely be at least another month, but they have been helpful throughout the process.”
