The Port of Palm Beach is sharing a $1.9 million U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Riviera Beach Police Department.

The Riviera Beach port is alloting $1.3 million to the two law enforcement agencies. The remainder of the grant from the Seaport Cyber Infrastructure Protection Program will be used by the port and its tenants.

PBSO and RBPD will use the funding to enhance their Situational Awareness Platform and monitor the seaport’s cameras, inlet cameras, sonars, coastal radar and other sensor and data feeds.

Since 2007 the port has provided PBSO with more than $3.5 million in security grant funding, and RBPD with $1.1 million since 2011.

The port commission approved the interlocal agreement and funding on Feb. 18.
